After this amount, I charge £15 per hour. Once a design has been sent and agreed, I require a 40% deposit to secure your order.

You can receive up to 2 iterations on the initial design of your wedding cake - free. Further iterations will be at extra cost.

Edible and non-edible toppers can be sent via mail; at your own risk. I prefer to deliver or have them collected from my premises to avoid breakages.

Up to 6 wedding cake samples from my menu can collected for £30 or delivered to your door for £34.

If you choose delivery, it is my intention that your cake reaches you in perfect condition. However, I do ask for your patience with factors that are beyond my control, such as traffic conditions. Fond of Cakes can't be held liable for such delays. In some circumstances, I may agree to deliver your cake 1 day in advance. It's your responsibility to inform me of your correct ceremony and event time, plus the postcode and venue. In the unlikely event of late delivery, the maximum compensation will be a refund of the delivery price. In the unlikely event of non-delivery, we will refund the full amount.

LEAD TIMES

I kindly request 3 months’ notice for wedding cakes. At times, I may be able to work at shorter notice, so please do enquire.

COPYRIGHT DESIGN

Fond of Cakes does not copy other creator's designs.

ALTERATIONS

Alterations can be made no later than 2 weeks before collection/delivery. If the alteration affects the overall cost, then your balance will be adjusted and you will be re-invoiced accordingly.

I only accept amendments in an email, but can discuss matters over the phone first.

Please warn me when paying your deposit if you are not entirely sure of your design and I'll supply a new one.

I reserve the right to change the design at any point, in circumstances that are beyond my control, and those which could compromise the quality of your finished cake, e.g. melting due to hot weather. In these circumstances, I'll notify you of this promptly.

Each cake is made by hand.  A small amount of variation may occur from the design requested/picture supplied.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If the production of your cake has already started, and you choose to cancel your order, you may be charged for any components already made. Cancellation must be made by email or letter for it to be accepted.

CANCELLATION DUE TO PANDEMIC

Fond of cakes has the right to suspend your cake order while an event related to COVID-19 or other pandemic prevents work from moving forward.

Fond of Cakes has the right to cancel any booking that cannot be completed due to very unusual circumstances arising that are beyond our control. This would include ill health or fire. Should this happen, we will refund any money taken in full.

CATERING FOR PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES AND INTOLERANCE

It is your responsibility to notify me of any guests that have allergies. I'm able to offer dairy-free and gluten-free cakes on request. My lighter carrot cake has an organic sunflower oil base and is, by nature, dairy-free. This excludes cakes for Coeliac suffers as I can't completely guard against cross-contamination.

All of my cakes can be made without alcohol on request.

Although I don’t always use nuts in our products, I can't guarantee that my products haven’t come into contact with nuts and accept no responsibility for illness.

I'll give you appropriate allergy advice on collection or delivery of your cake and can't be held responsible for informing your guests of any allergy information and subsequently held liable for any allergic reaction resulting from consumption of the cake.

DECORATIONS

  • Non-edible decorations: These include items such as brooches, ribbons, silk flowers, diamante, beads, feathers etc. It's important that these are removed before consumption. In some cases, this can also include dried pressed flowers as they are not all edible.

  • Dowels: Food grade plastic dowels or cocktail sticks may be used to support your cake or topper. These must be removed before consumption.

  • Sugar flowers: Some of my sugar flowers contain wires for structure and are non-edible.

  • Fond of Cakes accepts no responsibility for damage after they've been delivered and accepted. Should you be collecting your cake and flowers, Fond of Cakes accepts no responsibility for damage after they've left our premises.

  • Real flowers: You must ensure that you understand the origins and makeup of your flowers, as some can be toxic. I'll work with your florist, but expect you to make all necessary arrangements with them. I accept no responsibility for problems with your flowers.

  • I take every care to protect your cake from contamination and accept no responsibility for any physical harm that may arise from the use of non-edible items.

CHOCOLATE

I recommend extreme caution if you're considering a cake decorated with chocolate for a summer wedding (May-September). I can't accept responsibility for any melting of your cake once it has left my possession. I'll recommend at the time, what is susceptible to be affected by temperature, to reduce any likely impact hot weather may have on your cake.

EQUIPMENT FOR WEDDINGS

It is the client's responsibility to ensure arrangements are made for supply and setup of items, such as cake tables, linen etc. These items should be present on my arrival and should be suitably stable.  If any delay is incurred due to these not being available, Fond of Cakes reserve the right to charge for any delay (labour/time costs at £15 per hour). Alternatively, you can ask me to arrange for the cake to be left with the event manager to assemble/move into position as appropriate, but this must be made clear in an email, and I accept no responsibility if not briefed. Please take extra care to ensure a stable cake table is available if you're having a marquee wedding, as surrounding floorboards can easily rock the cake once stood on.

I take no responsibility for supplied items that become lost or stolen.

I'm happy to source cake stands on your behalf. I require a cash deposit should you wish me to do so. Deposit amounts may vary, and I'll notify you of the amount you need to pay.

Please make arrangements to have all items safely returned to me within 7 days of the cake being supplied.

I'll release your deposited amount once I'm happy that the item has been returned in a good state, with no breakages.

CATERING FOR WEDDINGS

Fond of Cakes doesn't currently supply chocolate truffles as wedding favours.  I do supply biscuits, cake pops, cupcakes and Macarons.  Visit our Edible favours page.

BEST BEFORE AND STORAGE CONDITIONS

I always bake your cake fresh to order, but can't guarantee its freshness if consumed within 48 hours after your event. This is because all of my cakes contain the freshest, natural ingredients, with no additives or preservatives.

Cake boxes can be supplied so that you can keep your cake fresh for longer. Please advise me of any additional cake boxes that you need at the time of your order - thank you.

RIGHT TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR CAKE

Fond of Cakes keeps the irrevocable and unrestricted right to use and publish photographs of your cake or pictures in which they may be included. For, e.g., advertising, display, website and internet promotion, photographic contests, public display, cake industry publications, studio display, television advertising and magazine advertising.

COMPLAINTS

Should you have any concerns about my cakes, or toppers; please notify me straight away. I'll endeavour to make adjustments to satisfy your complaint. However, this can't be guaranteed if I'm not given enough time to react. All other concerns should be made in writing (with evidence given) should there be a fault with your cake. No refunds will be given due to a change in your requirements.

Refunds are at the discretion of Fond of Cakes.

I pride myself on serving you correctly and thank you for your custom.
